  We used Concept Construction for a house remodel from February - November 2016. This was a very extensive remodel covering two floors involving a kitchen, family room, and a basement suite. Problems arose with every one of Sandy's subs. The framer delayed the project for two weeks because Sandy had surgery and he didn't get paid. We had three different plumbers, none of which really wanted the job. The electrician did most of our job but towards the end stopped communicating with Sandy and didn't finish the work. This is the second kitchen remodel I have done, so I know how things do come up along the way to make these projects challenging. I don't think we had good representation from Sandy and James at Concept as they didn't come by and manage the project after drywall, we were left to deal with their subs completely on our own. This last March, I noticed a 10" crack in my quartz countertop on my kitchen island. When I contacted Sandy for warranty, she refused to fix this issue and told me that it was somehow not her responsibility and that my house had settled. Also last fall I noticed that the drywall around my modern fireplace surround started cracking. I discovered that the cement board wasn't taped properly with thinset to prevent this. When asked to fix this, Sandy also said that this was not her responsibility. In short, the difference between a good contractor and a bad one is when things go wrong. A good contractor will warranty their work for a year. A bad contractor will make excuses and leave you cleaning up their mess. I am not going to say whether you should or shouldn't go with Concept Construction for your next remodel. I just want to share my experience so that you can have an unbiased review.
